We look forward to welcoming you to London! I don’t have a tech company but I’ve run my own small business (corporate communications and reporting serving FTSE clients) for 20 years now and counting… I wouldn’t live anywhere else, despite having grown up in various parts of the world. So I applaud your choice! Now you may be wondering who this random person is, intruding upon your blog and welcoming you to London - my husband David is good friends with Sunny and he told me she had put you in touch. You’ll be receiving an invitation to dinner from David imminently! Look forward to meeting you. Claire (Bodanis)
Love this, Lachlan. All I ever hear about is people moving out to SF and as a founder myself I really want to believe it's possible to build a generational company without leaving. It's cool to hear your story of bucking the trend!
Would love to grab a coffee when you arrive and put a face to the name I see a lot of Substack / LinkedIn.
Especially how you seemed to have really given the decision to settle in London significant thought.
I'm rooting for you as you build a world-class company solving real problems while also falling in love with the woman of your dreams who speaks English and embodies the love of British romcoms.
Building deep connections in a place that aligns with your long-term goals is such a win. Wishing you all the best on this exciting new chapter Lachlan—can’t wait to see what you’ll build there!
As the person who is in the search of where to live and to belong, your reasons seemed quite rational for me. I might myself consider moving to London. Loved the part where you mention NY vibe but without rats. I felt that)) Maybe one of the points to consider taxes, as they are high in EU and UK.
Taxes may be higher than in the US but we get a whole lot more for them, not least free healthcare - which, when you start getting a bit older, or have children and so on is invaluable. And generally I feel our government is relatively responsible with taxpayers’ money, compared with many governments around the world…

Thanks for you note man! That's all I hear too but I 100% believe it's possible. That'd be fun!

Thanks Comfort!!
I'm amused you are doing the opposite that I did. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your adventures!
Maybe it’s all just grass greener + post hoc rationalization 😅
Can’t wait to visit you in London and excited for your next move! Great article, your reasoning sounds strong ol’ chap. 💪🏼

Ya taxes are very high in London 😵💫 What city do you live in now?
I live in Luxembourg now, but I am from Azerbaijan, Baku. Not even asking if you have been in Baku, as sometimes I get questions where it is at)
Cool! I have not been yet :) good luck figuring out your next steps! DM me on LinkedIn if you think I can help!
